Vascular Dementia
Vascular dementia is widely considered the second most common type of dementia; second to Alzheimer's disease. It develops when impaired blood flow to parts of the brain deprives brain cells of blood and oxygen. Symptoms of vascular dementia can vary depending on the specific areas of the brain deprived. The person may have a past history of heart attacks or factors such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, hardening of the arteries, or diabetes.
